From tennis courts to football fields
Two sizes* and specially developed light distributions for different mast arrangements reduce the number of luminaires required. This makes R–System RIVAL an ideal floodlight for sports facilities large and small. (* from Q4 2026)
Light only the playing field
Dedicated sports-field optics place the light precisely on the playing surface – Dark-Sky-compliant, with high visual comfort and minimal light spill into the surrounding environment.
Crossbeam Technology
The ewo Crossbeam Technology combines two light distributions in one luminaire: one for the area near the mast and one for the center of the field. The AFC optics developed for this purpose enable precisely matched sports field lighting for different mast arrangements.
Ideal for retrofits and new floodlighting installations
Low weight, low windage, and the option to mount control gear remotely reduce static load on the mast and foundation. This makes R–System RIVAL especially relevant for retrofits using existing mast infrastructure and for economically planned new builds.
Planning without manual iteration
LightFinder designs lighting for sports facilities. Based on parameters including playing area geometry and lighting class, it automatically calculates the suitable product configuration and identifies the most cost-effective standards-compliant sports field lighting solution – including relevant planning data and documentation.

Shape of light – Fewer luminaires for the same task
The AFC optics, specifically tuned to typical mast positions in recreational sports facilities, make R–System RIVAL particularly efficient: depending on the application, up to 25% fewer luminaires are required compared with solutions using symmetrical light distributions. This reduces investment cost, installation effort, connected load, and structural load.
Shape of light – Shielding based on the Dark-Sky principle
The full cut-off shield is an integral part of R–System RIVAL and is matched to the luminaire body tilted by 30°. It prevents direct light output above the horizontal – for sports field lighting with full output on the field and clear shielding upward and toward the surrounding environment.
Body of light – Robust and durable (Body of Light)
The corrosion-resistant housing is designed for demanding outdoor applications. IP66, IK08, and cable entry for metal-sheathed cables protect the luminaire even where weather, mechanical stress, or animal damage may affect cables and housing.
Simple control for everyday sports field operation
connex–x Sports Control is the lighting control system for sports fields. Predefined scenes for competition, training, and partial-field operation simplify day-to-day operation of the floodlighting system, reduce energy consumption, and support projects where reduced light levels are relevant for permitting and compatibility with the surroundings.
