Royal Albert Dock, London (GBR)
The Royal Albert Dock project in central London showcases ewo's craftsmanship in complex metalwork.
Sophisticated lighting design
The Royal Albert Dock project in London’s trendy Docklands area illustrates ewo’s artistry in dealing with complex metalwork. A sophisticated design that blends the straight lines of the modern business location and the aesthetics of its surroundings was a key priority for developers Associated British Ports.
In order to meet this design requirement, a customized luminaire family with a uniform style was designed and developed, manufactured at ewo, incorporating wall luminaires, single/double-head luminaires and extra-high masts up to 12 m in height.

Different lighting requirements in one luminaire
The project comprises two different and distinct area with separate lighting specifications: functional street lighting in one area and coloured high-mast RGBW lighting for a nearby square. For the street lighting, wall luminaires and two-headed column luminaires comprise the white street lighting, with the wall luminaires partially accentuating nearby buildings from a different mounting height.
For the illumination of the square, columns reach up to 12 metres in height, developed in the same style as their counterpart in the street lighting area, with extended 1.1 m luminaire heads to accommodate smart components. These luminaires are positioned in close proximity to a waterfall installation, with a white light driver for functional street lighting. A separate DMX driver enables RGBW lighting that synchronizes the high pole luminaires’ colours to that of the nearby fountain.
“Once again, this eight-year project has allowed us to demonstrate our expertise in providing the highest degree of customization.
