Royal Palace, Oslo (NOR)
ewo was commissioned to equip the entire outdoor area of the Norwegian royal palace with individually developed luminaires.
Tailor-made luminaires for the historic residence of the Norwegian monarch
ewo took part in a Europe-wide tender for a new lighting system for the Royal Palace in Oslo—and was ultimately commissioned to equip the entire exterior of the Norwegian royal palace with individually developed luminaires. The classicist palace was built in the first half of the 19th century by King Charles III John, King of Sweden and Norway. Today it is the official residence of the Norwegian monarch. The building is surrounded by the palace park, while the palace square is located at its front.
As part of this ewoIndividual project, we created three types of luminaires specially tailored to the customer's wishes and requirements:
- Old-style lanterns with hand-gilded crown,
- Rectangular lighting fixtures reminiscent of a box and green hanging street lamps with a design inspired by old Scandinavian luminaires.
The special feature and focus of the project was the design and the combination of old and new style: historic-looking luminaires represent the charm of old European cities—while at the same time modern LED technology provides comfort. An excellent testimony to the fact that modern technology does not necessarily have to go hand in hand with modern design.
