Castello del Buonconsiglio is probably the most important building in Trentino. The Prince Bishops of Trento lived there until 1796, but today it is home to the Museo Provinciale d’Arte and the Museo Storico. ewo, in cooperation with Luce e Design, was commissioned to equip the castle with an all-new lighting system.
One of the requirements of this project was to illuminate the castle walls with different color temperatures, using light not only in a functional way, but also as a design element. At the same time, all technical components were to remain unseen, so as not to disturb the esthetics of the historic building. One of the challenges was the castle’s thick walls, in addition to the illumination of remote areas on the property.
Our solution:
Smart control capability was also provided via nodexx, integrated and external. Here, the number of nodes had to be as small as possible - one node controls up to 16 luminaires. To bypass the thick castle walls, radio communication bridges were also used and ewo provided support for the installation of the nodes.
Project planning began in 2018, and the luminaires were finally installed in 2023. The Castello del Buonconsiglio now shines with dynamic ewo lighting.
