First luminaires for large areas with “DarkSky Approved” label
As the first luminaires for large areas, ewo’s R–System gen4 floodlights were recently certified with a special version of the “DarkSky Approved” label by DarkSky International. The globally recognized authority stands against light pollution and ensures through outreach, advocacy, and conservation that the nighttime environment is restored, and that the communities are protected from the harmful effects of light pollution.
Light pollution is the human-made alteration of outdoor light levels from those occurring naturally. This disrupts wildlife, impacts human health, wastes money and energy, contributes to climate change, and blocks our view of the universe.
But what can be done about light pollution?
Following responsible lighting practices, passing dark sky friendly legislation, and advancing scientific research in this field are just some of the ways light pollution can be solved. The certified members of ewo’s R–System family of floodlights meet these criteria and ensure (energy) efficient, environmentally friendly lighting for large areas such as airports, sports facilities or logistics areas.
