Buonconsiglio Castle, Trento (ITA)

ewo has equipped what is probably the most important castle in Trentino with a completely new, intelligent and invisible lighting system.

Dynamic castle lighting for a castle in Trentino

Castello del Buonconsiglio is probably the most important building in Trentino. It is home to the Museo Provinciale d'Arte and the Museo Storico. ewo equipped the castle with a completely new lighting system in collaboration with Luce e Design.

One of the requirements for this project was to highlight the castle walls with different color temperatures. In other words, to use light not only for purely functional purposes, but also as a design element. All technical components had to be invisible so as not to disturb the aesthetics of the historic building. Another challenge was the thick castle walls and the illumination of remote areas of the property.

Our solution:

  • 4 R–System gen3 with AG03 lenses and tunable white mode from 1600 K to 4000 K,

Intelligent lighting

The possibility of smart control was also planned with nodexx integral and external. The number of nodes was to be kept as low as possible—one node controls up to 16 luminaires, even individually. Radio bridges were also used to bypass the thick castle walls and ewo provided support with the installation of the nodes.

As part of this project, we used light not only for purely functional purposes, but also as an invisible design element.
